Account settings¶
Your company's details, its API key, and the HMI PIN code policy are on Control Panel → Account. Your own details are on Control Panel → My User Info.
Note
Changing the account settings needs the Account Admin Role (see Roles and permissions). Without it the fields are read-only, and the Roles: and HMI PIN Codes: rows are hidden.
The Control Panel¶
Click Control Panel in the top menu. (View Only users don't have this menu item.) Its tabs:
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Account | Company details, API key, Assign Roles, HMI PIN code policy (this page) |
| My Credit Cards | Shown but not available: payment is handled by D6 Labs |
| My User Info | Your own name, contact details, password, two-factor authentication and HMI PIN code |
| Account Users | Everyone who can sign in to your account. See Managing users |
| Roles | Your roles. See Roles and permissions |
| Preferences/Config | Scheduled reports. See Scheduled reports |
| Audit Log | Only for people allowed to see it. See Audit log |
Alert contacts are no longer in the Control Panel: they are under Alerts → Alert Contacts (see Alert contacts).
Company details¶
On the Account tab, under Account Info::
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name: | Your company or account name |
| Partner Logo URL: | Only for partner accounts: the web address of the logo shown in the top menu |
| Address:, Country:, City/State/Zip: | Your company's address |
| Contact Name:, Contact Phone: | Who D6 Labs should contact about the account |
When you change a field, Save and Undo buttons appear under Account Info:. Click Save to keep your changes.
API key¶
The API Key: box at the top of the tab shows your account's key. It is read-only. Treat it like a password: anyone with it can reach your account's data through the Whisker.io API.
Roles¶
Roles: → Assign Roles opens the Assign Account Roles dialog. See Account-level permissions.
HMI PIN codes¶
People enter an HMI PIN code at on-site Whisker.io panels and in the WhiskerHMI PC application. Your account decides whether a PIN is required there, and how long it must be.
- On Control Panel → Account, find HMI PIN Codes:.
- Tick Require a PIN code for HMI edit access (panel and WhiskerHMI).
- Set PIN Code Length: to a number from 4 to 9.
- Click Save under Account Info:.
A message confirms how many PINs were cleared. If your own PIN was cleared, you'll be asked to sign in again and set a new one.
Warning
Turning the requirement on, or changing the length, clears every PIN that doesn't fit and signs those people out. Each of them must set a new PIN the next time they sign in to the portal (see Logging in). PINs that already fit are kept. Tell your users before you change it.
When the requirement is off, panels don't accept PIN codes.
Only people who belong to the Local Device Login role can use a PIN at a panel. If an administrator needs to clear one person's PIN, use Reset PIN in their Edit User dialog (see Managing users).
Your own details: My User Info¶
On Control Panel → My User Info you can change:
- your First/Middle/Last Name:, Phone Number:, Email: and User Name:,
- your Password: (Change),
- Two Factor Authentication,
- your HMI PIN Code: (Change),
- your address.
When you change a field, Save and Undo appear under Contact Info:. See Logging in for the password, 2FA and PIN steps.
If you hold Add/Edit Users, the tab also shows your Roles:.
Temperature units¶
Each person chooses Celsius or Fahrenheit in the top menu: App Settings → Temperature → Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F). Every temperature in the portal, including readings, alert thresholds and graphs, follows this setting. It is saved with your user, so it follows you to any browser, and doesn't change anyone else's view.
Customer accounts (partners)¶
Partner accounts see Manage Customers: on Control Panel → Preferences/Config, with Create New Customer. It creates a new customer account, with its company information, the customer's administrator, and your own user on that account. The new login details are emailed to you.
