What is Whisker.io?¶
Whisker.io™ is D6 Labs' cloud platform for monitoring equipment at remote sites: lift stations, pump stations, water towers, tanks, walk-in coolers, and anything else with a sensor or a controller. It collects readings from the hardware at each site, shows them live in a web portal and a mobile app, and alerts the right people when something needs attention.

- At the site, a Whisker.Hub™ gateway connects your equipment to the cloud. Readings come from D6 Labs Whisker.Block™ sensor devices, Sent.io devices, Modbus equipment, and D6 smart controllers. Each value they report (a temperature, a tank level, a pump's run state) is a channel.
- In the cloud, Whisker.io stores the readings, checks them against your alert rules around the clock, and works out who to notify.
- Your team sees everything in the web portal at www.whisker.io or in the Whisker.io mobile app. Alerts arrive by text message, email, or voice call.
What you can do with it¶
See every site at a glance. A map of all your locations, colored by alert status. Drill into any location for its equipment, live readings and history.
Watch equipment live. Build HMI screens for each location: gauges, tank levels, status lights and trends laid over a photo or diagram of the site. With permission, you can change setpoints and send commands to equipment from the same screen.
Get the right people alerted. Set alerts on any channel for a high or low reading, a digital input changing state, or a device that stops reporting. Choose a delay so short blips don't wake anyone. Then decide who hears about it:
- Schedule groups follow your on-call rota: different people for weekdays, nights, weekends and holidays, with cover for someone who is out.
- Escalation: text one person at a time, or call them, until someone acknowledges. If nobody does, you choose what happens next: stop, or email (and text) everyone on the schedule.
- Acknowledgement: reply to the text, press 1 on the call, or click Acknowledge in the portal. Everyone else is told who has it.
- Delivery tracking: Whisker.io re-sends texts that don't arrive, emails the person when a text can't be delivered, and sends your administrators a daily report of contacts who can't be reached.
Keep a record. Every alert, every text, email and call, and who acknowledged it are kept in the alert history. Your team can write down the cause and resolution of each alert. An audit log records every change made in your account.
Trend and report. Dashboards of gauges and trend graphs from any devices in your account. Tank levels and flow-meter totals (today, this week, this month). Download history for any channel. Scheduled reports by email as PDF, Excel or Word.
Control who can do what. Roles decide who can see each location, HMI and dashboard, who can edit alerts and contacts, and who can send commands. Two-factor sign-in and PINs for HMI editing protect the account.
